My Training Philosophy

No gimmicks, no BS, no fads - just expert coaching!

My training philosophy has been influenced by numerous factors over the years: my academic education in sports science, my time as an athlete, the years I spent in gyms, sports halls and on the pitch, and the hours I've spent on the road, both running and in the saddle of a bicycle.

It's developed throughout my 20-year career as an instructor, trainer and coach working with clients ranging from reluctant fitness converts to gym enthusiasts to elite disabled and able-bodied athletes. It's evolved while working for leading gym chains, boutique personal-training studios and smelly, hard-core establishments. And it's been driven by my own life-long quest for physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle.

I continually seek to update my knowledge and skills in order to offer my clients the most cutting-edge programmes and techniques available, which is why I've spent thousands of hours reading books, articles and programmes written by the very best specialists in their fields, watching video recordings, listening to interviews and talking to authorities on sports and strength training.

Time is a precious commodity which is why I strive to help each and every one of my clients to safely achieve maximum results, realise their full potential and reach their goals in the minimum amount of time.

I believe in using the safest possible exercises and training methods to minimise the risk of injury during training and when participating in sport, and that is why all my programmes are structured to build fitness gradually and systematically.

Regardless of the training methods used, intensity is one of the most important factors in getting results. I believe that if my clients aren't pushed to their limits in each and every workout, they'll never reach their full physical potential.

The main focus of my training programmes is on maximising strength and, if necessary, muscular size. For this reason, I believe in strength-training all the muscles of the body, not just those used in a client's chosen sport, by means of core-stability work, odd object lifting and bodyweight conditioning. Variety is another important component of my training as it ensures that both my clients' mind and body are always being challenged.

I believe in designing interesting, structured and tailor-made training routines that are not only fun but deliver real results.
